Soon after he was told by the West Bend Daily News that -- to his surprise -- he had retired as their film critic, Eric realized that it was perhaps time to consider a career. Although he enjoyed a brief term wearing sweat pants as a freelance researcher, he now teaches high school English. But passions never die: he views roughly 400 new films every year, publishing newspaper columns sporadically. He doesn't "get" Sandra Bullock or Bob Dylan, but he admires Pauline Kael, David Thomson, and Thomas Hardy as if they were family.
